I’m Jarno Smeets, a mechanical engineer from the Netherlands who loves mountainbiking, kiting and hanggliding. Fascinated by new technology, robotics, aerodynamics and science in general.

Why this blog?
Right here, on this blog I share everything about my crazy plan to build my own wings. My goal? To fly with it! Something Leonardo DaVinci, my grandfather and I dreamed of for a long time. But this summer I decided to really start building it. This blog is the result of my experiences of the project. You’ll find video’s, pictures and text on the progress, my inspiration and all your comments and support.

UPDATE 31 december 2011:
A new video is out on building the wings. We show you how we cut the aerodynamic ribs which give the wing its shape. It’s the first part of a two-part impressionvideo. So there will be more soon! In the passed weeks the project got great support by House Hold Hacker (YouTube), online journals like TechCrunch, Engadget, Tech Journal and many others. I am really excited. Thanks for sharing my story!
